Questions we get asked
What is Meshwarak?
Meshwarak is a road assistant app. It knows the speed limit of the road your car is on and tells you out loud when you go over it, warns you before you enter a road with no mobile network, and gives early radar alerts too.
Does Meshwarak work without internet?
Yes. Every alert is computed on your phone from GPS, so it works on desert roads and with no data plan. We use the internet only to upload your trips when a connection is available.
Is Meshwarak free?
Yes, free and with no ads, and more is on the way.
How does it know the speed limit?
From the road map, for the road you are on right now. We say "You are over the limit" once, with no repeating beeps.
Where does it work?
It is built for roads in Egypt: Cairo, Alexandria, the North Coast, the Delta, Upper Egypt and the Red Sea.
Does it work with the screen off or a map open?
Yes. Alerts keep speaking with the screen locked or while you use any map app.
Which phones does it run on?
iPhone from the App Store, and Android from Google Play.
What do you do with my data?
Your account is just your name and phone number. Your trip route reaches us minus its first and last half kilometre, so we can improve road data. No ads, and we never sell your data.
